Civil Engineering/Survey Technician - Aberdeen

Clark Engineering Corporation, a leading Midwestern firm with over a 70-year history providing quality engineering and surveying services, has an opening for a full time Civil Engineering/Surveying Technician in our Aberdeen office.  This is an excellent career opportunity for a hardworking, multi-talented individual who has entry level surveying and CAD skills. Expect year round outdoor work in all types of weather performing boundary and topographic surveys, ALTA surveys, and construction staking. 

Qualifications:

• Prefer someone whose career goals include becoming a licensed land surveyor.
• Survey crew experience required.
• Experience with Robotic Total Stations and data collectors required.
• GPS experience required.
• Laser scanning experience desired.
• AutoCad proficiency required.

Expect year round outdoor work in all types of weather performing boundary and topographic surveys, ALTA surveys, and construction staking. 

Qualifications:

• Professional Land Surveyor preferred but not required.
• 3-5 years survey crew experience required.
• Experience with Robotic Total Stations and data collectors required.
• Government infrastructure experience preferred.
• GPS experience required.

Civil Engineering Internship - Aberdeen

Clark Engineering Corporation, a leading Midwestern civil engineering consulting firm with a 70-year history of providing award winning engineering and surveying services, is offering an outstanding paid internship opportunity at our Sioux Falls location. The internship begins in mid-May lasting through August with the possibility of continuing part time through the school year. Out-of-town travel and overtime are required. 

Duties May Include:

• Assisting engineers with bridge inspections.
• Assisting with on-site inspections at construction projects, water or sewer projects, developments, or roadways.
• Assisting with survey crew as a survey crew member.
• Providing technical support and assistance to engineers and surveyors using AutoCAD Civil 3D.

Qualifications:

• Must have college-level coursework in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology.
• Prefer students entering their third or fourth year of college.
• Survey crew experience preferred.
• Experience using CAD to make revisions, corrections and additions to drawings from marked-up drawings is beneficial.
• Able to communicate effectively in routine situations (one-on-one and in small groups) with coworkers, clients, contractors, and others.
• Must be able to transport, assemble, dismantle and maintain engineering and surveying equipment.
• Must like to work outdoors in all kinds of weather, walk long distances, and lift from 40 - 70 pounds.
• Must possess a valid driver's license and a driving record acceptable to our corporate insurer.

Writing and Marketing Internship - Sioux Falls

Clark Engineering Corporation, a leading midwestern civil engineering consulting firm with a 70-year history of providing award winning engineering and surveying services, is offering an outstanding paid internship opportunity for a creative, ambitious, "think outside the box" college student at our Sioux Falls location. We are looking for someone who has high energy, is well organized, likes working independently, and can finish tasks. The right candidate will have the desire to learn about the civil engineering field and assist us in branding and promoting our company through the use of technology.

The Technical Writing Intern provides support to technical professionals including Civil and Structural Engineers, Land Surveyors, and other technical and administrative staff. The position begins in May and lasts through August. Some overnight travel and overtime may be required. 

Duties May Include:

• Assisting with creation of website materials.
• Working with various civil engineers to gather needed technical information, photos, and project stories to complete project sheets.
• Assisting with social media initiatives.
• Assisting with day to day office duties as needed.

Qualifications:

• Must be a South Dakota college student currently pursuing a degree in English, marketing, communications, or some other creative writing field.
• Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator).
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Basic knowledge of search engine optimization strategy and techniques.
• Excellent writing, editing and grammar skills. Must have an eye for consistency and quality.
• Outstanding verbal communication skills.
• Experience with digital camera photography is a plus.
• Valid driver's license and driving record acceptable to our corporate insurer.
